THE BACKSTORY:
Ole Mary Lou was Grampa's Cabover Pete. The cabover was a 1971 Peterbilt in a classic emerald green. Grampa hauled both long and short logs in the Coos, Curry, and Douglas County areas from 1978 until about 1983.
This truck was painted by local family Friend Ernie, and he'll tell you that it's named for his wife, Mary Lou. Grampa, on the other hand, says the name didn't come from his friend's wife, but rather from a long-running joke with a bookkeeper, Betty, who couldn't remember his name for paperwork, and called him Clarence. He mouthed off to her one day that if he was Clarance, she was "Ole Mary Lou," and the name stuck with his truck.
